ISLAMABAD: After Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of India’s Punjab also turned down invitation of Foreign Minister shah Mehmood Qureshi to attend groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border.
Amarindar Singh said “My reasons for declining your invitation are twofold. Firstly not a day passes when Indian soldiers are not killed or wounded across LoC. Secondly, the ISI has started its nefarious activities within my state.”
Earlier, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj also had turned down invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmoom Qureshi to attend groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border crossing.
On Saturday Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi invited his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj to attend groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur border.
Shah Mehmood also invited the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab Amarinder Singh and Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidu to attend the ceremony.
The Foreign Minister took to famous microblogging social site Twitter and said “On behalf of Pakistan I have extended an invitation to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Capt Amarinder Singh & Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at Kartarpura on 28 Nov.”
Qureshi said the groundbreaking ceremony for opening the border crossing between the two countries will be held on November 28.
