LAHORE – Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Wednesday staged a rally and held a protest demonstration in front of Jinnah hospital against the VIP culture in hospitals.
The office bearers of the YDA including its media coordinator Dr Khuram Shehzad said that VIP culture damaging the process of medical treatment to patients. He said that on the arrival of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Jinnah Hospital to enquire after the blast victims on Tuesday, the staff of the hospital including doctors who were treating the blast victims remained restricted for around four hours outside the hospital due to security purpose.
He said that such VIP culture allegedly damaging the treatment process and should not be allowed any extra protocol to VIPs at the cost of patients’ health in hospitals. However, the media coordinator Dr Khurram said the YDA had already cancelled all its protest activities due to blast incident in Lahore park. He urged the government to look into the matter in the larger interest of the patients.
