The Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted the unconditional apology of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Faisal Raza Abidi for making anti-judiciary remarks, two days after he was indicted.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Azmat Saeed, heard the case.
The counsel for Abidi told the court that the PPP leader spent 70 days in jail and had realised his mistake. The former senator was accused of using ” insulting and inappropriate language” against Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, as mentioned in a first information report (FIR) filed against him prior to his arrest.
Justice Saeed, accepting the apology, advised Abidi to exercise caution.
“We are not afraid of criticism; it is tolerated in the whole world but the criticism should be within limits,” Justice Saeed said.
